What should I bear? Cross of grace.
Understanding the cross is to understand that no matter what you have done, there is no way you will ever atone form it. You can only come to the cross and plead for mercy from the sovereign Lord above for your sins. Only he can cleanse you of the sin. If he has grace and is a just Lord, then he will forgive your sins. But even then, you cannot go back and try to atone for your sin as its dead to you. If you pick up the old man again and try to clean him from that sin, then you have put to shame the meaning of the cross and a need for a saviour.
You can only plead for mercy at the Cross. You cannot atone for your own sins. You can only ask for forgiveness at the cross. This is also where you must forgive yourself of all the things you done. You must forgive yourself else you will try to bear the weight of those sins forever. Jesus makes the yoke light. Sin will burden you. If the Lord has forgiven, then it is dead t you and you are a new creature.
Peter said Grace, who can know it? It is a hard thing. Because Grace means we must forgive and forget the things we are free from. Never to burden ourselves and others with their past. Grace is indeed hard to understand. We often say we understand grace but then we take up our cross to bear our own sins instead of the cross bearing down upon us to help us see grace. The cross isn’t heavy. It is light. The Lord bore the heavy cross of calvary. Our cross to bear is light. It is a reminder of where we left our sins. It’s to remind us of his love and grace which covered us.
Forgive yourself today and stop trying to bear the sins of your past. It will hurt your spiritual growth. It will hinder your walk in Jesus as a new man. You cannot drag ethe dead man along with you on your journey. You must bury him. Leaving him in the past.
